Welcome to our volunteer site! Volunteers represent an integral part of the success of Second Harvest's ability to help provide food to people in need in our community. Last year, volunteers contributed approximately 297,755 hours of service, which is equivalent to 143 full-time employees!
Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties involves hundreds of volunteers each week in all aspects of our operation. We welcome and appreciate your time, talent, and interest for the benefit of others in our community. We have individual and group volunteer opportunities for those who are 14 years of age or older.
We're Moving!
New location information for Santa Clara County volunteers
At the end of March, all Santa Clara County food sorting activities will move from our Curtner Center (750 Curtner Avenue, San Jose) to our new Cypress Center (4001 North 1st Street, San Jose). We are very excited to open our new "Volunteer Hub." Our dream has been to create a volunteer environment that is fun, exudes enthusiasm, promotes team building, and both enriches and educates our community. What does this transition provide for our volunteers?
- A facility that accommodates a larger number of volunteers
- Ample parking
- Safer sort rooms that are separated from the warehouse
- A larger reception area for our volunteer groups
- A large break room and a new conference room
- Purified drinking water stations in every sort area
- Large flat screen TVs to view instructional videos
Once open, this dedicated Volunteer Hub will offer nearly 12,000 square feet of sorting space compared to 7,850 at Curtner. View the new hub's layout
